If you are making a DV AVI file, (or DV MOV if you are on the Mac) then you must have 720x576. DV has to have either 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC). That is one of the restrictions of DV. As long as you click on the "Options" button and choose the right aspect ratio for your footage, which in this case would be 16:9, it should look good (normal 16:9 in your case) in most editors. (But as it says in the tutorial somewhere, you have to make sure that Vegas is set up correctly so it knows what aspect ratio the clips are.)

Hiya!
I've tried ripping my DVD's, but instead of the HQ image I was expecting, my clips look like someone used a "grains of sand" effect on them! I didn't matter how I changed the project properties in Vegas, the result remains the same - - even my video player shows the 'grains of sand'! Any idea on how to fix this?
*looks hopeful*
The DVD is definitely PAL 16x9; so... I tried to rip it and then use MPEG streamclip to change it to AVI / Apple DV. So I did everything right, right? So confused atm. *sigh*

Hi everybody!
I am very, very new to the world of vidding. I downloaded DVDDecrypter and followed the instructions. However, I've encountered a problem trying to put the files into MPEG Streamclip. They come up black! I suspect this has something to do with how when I try to open the clips PowerDVD asks me for a CD key?
I am very confused. Thanks!
