Supernatural season three. I've done the two previous seasons with no problem, so I find it odd that this isn't working (it had worked before... but was in Portuguese). I also tried using DVD decrypter but it didn't work so well.
ETA: I'm checking to see if leaving it at automatic compression (past setting) will make any difference. Before I tried 'no compression' and didn't notice any difference, which is something I have a good eye for from editing several short films.
ETA2: Nope. Didn't work.

If this problem is existing with both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, then it sounds like the culprit is the DVD, not the software. Have you tried ripping any other DVD, just as a test? (You can then delete the rip afterwards.) Some DVDs are funky and won't rip properly. (I just had this happen with my George Gently DVD. ) And as for compression—it is what it is—it's taking something out to make the file smaller, and the rule of thumb is to avoid compression when possible. Sometimes the signs of compression are not noticeable depending on the quality of the DVD (or the size of your monitor). If you feel you see no quality loss with the additional compression, then of course it's up to you whether you want to do it or not.

The weirdest thing is that it's worked before!
HAHA! DVD Ripped into one file! I realized I was trying to rip it (in DVD Decryper) and an IFO file.
So far I haven't figured out the issue with DVD Shrink.
ETA: Never mind. It wasn't the entire file.
ETA2: Tried season two in Decrypter (I was able to rip the entire episode in one file last time). It did not work. Tested it out in DVD shrink, which is what, if I recall correctly, I used before to rip the episode.
And that didn't work either *sigh*

How can I tell if it's an intel mac?

xpheonixrising: Something is whacked about that particular DVD, I reckon. Gabz: Click on far top corner where the Apple icon is, and select "About this Mac" from the drop down menu. It'll list info about your Mac. Under "Processor" if it says "Intel" somewhere in there, it's an Intel. Otherwise, it'll say G5 or G4. What kind of Mac do you have? Macbook? iMac? I have a Mac Mini—which originally came with a G4 processor chip, and now comes as an Intel.

The thing is though that it's suddenly BOTH seasons. Luckily I have perfect copies... I'm wondering if perhaps it has something to do with me reinstalling my operating system a few weeks ago?

I don't know . . . That is strange. Perhaps you were using a different version of one of these rippers, and now the version you're using now is giving problems? I'd think that it was the software if just one of them messed up, but both are. It is strange . . . I'm stumped! Do you have access to a Mac? You could try Mac the Ripper.

I do have a mac. I'm not entirely sure how to use Mac the Ripper. Can I rip just a single episode?

The tutorial on the first page shows how to use Mac the Ripper! Yes, you can rip a single episode. I have had mixed results doing that lately, so I just rip the whole thing. Then I can delete what bits I don't want after the fact. Mac the Ripper will just extract the contents of the DVD, as-is, onto your hard drive. You'll have to locate the individual VOBs that make up an episode. Depending on how the DVD is set up, you might find that there will be several 1 GB VOBs and the episodes will "run together" on them (back to back) but I find that this is not usually the case with episodic DVDs. (At least not on my Robin Hood, etc DVDs.) If you can't find a link to the Intel (Universal) version of Mac the Ripper, do a Google search for "Intel Mac the Ripper" or send me a PM.

I did take a look. There's some RCE detection on it and I did a search to see how to remove it and it keeps talking about a pop-up. ETA:

Thanks for this tutorial! It was well-written and easy to follow. I just used DVD Decrypter to rip my first DVD.

Congratulations on the Macbook! Do you have the MPEG-2 Playback component, which is mentioned in the tutorials? You need that on the Mac. (And it's recommended on the PC too.)
