SPECIAL REQUEST: State your software!
To make things easier for other members, especially when discussing vidding software issues, please indicate your primary software used for vidding, by adding text in your signature.
To do this, go to your profile (link at top of page), click on modify profile, then find the text box (halfway down on the left side) which says "Signature." Type in your video editing software there, as well as add a signature graphic URL (if a sig is desired). You'll see that my sig has a graphic, and then underneath it, I state my software of choice.
When you are done adding/adjusting things in your profile, click on the button in the bottom LEFT corner which says "Modify Profile." Do NOT click on the button on the middle bottom that says "Delete Account." That would be bad.
Sig graphics:
To add a graphic to your signature area, upload your graphic of choice (remember, it cannot be any larger than 500 pixels by 200 pixels) to your own website, Photobucket account, or use some free file hosting service like www.imageshack.us
PLEASE DO NOT find a sig or avatar graphic on the Internet, and then simply link to the graphic, on whatever website it currently resides. You must host the image yourself.
To add a sig graphic, type in the graphic's URL and add IMG tags, like this:
Avatars:
Add an avatar by typing in the web address (URL) in the text box entitled "Avatar URL" (halfway down left side, in your profile area).
For avatar width and height, type in the appropriate numbers (100 x 100 being maximum). Check your avatar's dimensions by simply viewing it in your browser. At the top title bar of the browser page, it'll give graphic's size in pixels. If you don't specify the avatar's dimensions, they'll default to square, which might squish or squash the picture. As the Aspect Ratio Diva, this causes me great pain, and I may adjust your avatar's dimensions for you (if I'm in a particularly picky mood ). If your avatar is larger than 100 pixels (width/height) please re-size it in a graphics editing program, like Photoshop Elements, the GIMP, iPhoto, or PaintShop Pro. This is for the benefit of dial-up customers, so they won't have to waste time downloading your big humungous avatar, squeezed into an itty-bitty 100x100 square!
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THE SIG GRAPHIC/AVATAR YOU DISPLAY HERE:
If you search on Live Journal or elsewhere, you'll find tons of fantastic avatars and sigs, free for the use, as long as you give appropriate credit. Please do so, by adding text to your profile or under the avatar. Please don't just find some sig or graphic online somewhere, and use it without first confirming that you have permission. Some of our fandoms are rather small little universes, and it's quite possible that the creator of the graphic (or one of their friends) will recognize the work and embarrass you because you used it without permission.
